THE SHIRT STORY.
The treble season, with Balotelli 45 on the back. Still only 19, Mario scored nine league goals for Mourinho’s Inter, including two in a wild 5–3 win over Palermo. There was plenty of drama along the way, but the talent was already there for everyone to see.
Inter finished the season with Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, beating Bayern 2–0 in Madrid to complete the set. The black-and-blue stripes with Pirelli across the front will always bring that team to mind. It was also Balotelli’s last full season at Inter before his move to Manchester City.
